20 armed robbers blew up cash-in-transit van outside Pretoria


CIT bombing of a G4s van on the R21 in Olifantshoek area. Two G4S cash-in-transit safeguards were to some extent injured when nearly twenty armed robbers blew up their van outside Pretoria. According to eye witnesses the guards were stopped on the M57 near the St Georges Hotel.

The said group of robbers‚ who were in five(5) cars comprising of a VW Amarok bakkie and a Porsche Cayanne‚ enforced the moving van to stop. According to the police present at the incident, the said robbers packed the side‚ where the cash is held‚ with explosives and blew it to pieces.

An additional police officer said the suspects had made off with a huge amount of cash including firearms. He also disclosed that per his viewpoint the said armed robbers were professional. This was done quickly and effectively. There were about 20 gunmen who opened fire on the guards from different positions.
